Holly

Coyote Attack

Holly, a cute little 7-year-old Maltese, was brought into WVRC’s Grafton ER after being attacked by a coyote. She was in shock and critical condition with traumatic bite wounds including multiple rib fractures, bruised lungs, a wound through her chest wall, skin wounds on both sides, and tissue damage under the skin.

Due to the extent of the injuries, Holly was initially treated with supportive care until she was stable enough for her wounds to be explored and surgically repaired by Dr. Meinen. Thankfully her lungs had not been punctured and her rib fractures would heal on their own with rest and activity restriction.

Now that Holly has had some time to recover, she is doing very well and on the mend! We are so happy to see Holly back to her happy, spunky self!!
